AB-PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) is an Indian government scheme which aims to provide an affordable health care facilities to economically weaker sections of the society.
It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 September 2018. It is considered as world’s largest government funded healthcare program which targets more than 50 crore beneficiaries.
Benefits of AB-PMJAY
- Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provides health cover up to 5 lakhs per family per year, for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
- It will provide paperless and cashless access to services to the beneficiary at the time of service.
- Helps to reduce catastrophic expenditure for hospitalisation which impoverishes people also helps to mitigate the financial risk arising out of catastrophic health episodes.
- Beneficiaries get access to quality healthcare services without facing financial hardship.
- It covers up to 3 days of pre hospitalisation and 15 days post hospitalisation expenses.
- Benefits of the scheme are portable across the country.
Who is Eligible for AB-PMJAY?
AB-PMJAY has two components viz. Rural Beneficiaries and Urban Beneficiaries.
Rural Beneficiaries
There are total seven deprivation criteria for rural areas, the scheme covers all the families which fall into at least one of the following deprivation criteria
- People having only one room with kucha walls and kacha roof.
- No adult member between age group 16 to 59.
- Household with no adult male member between age group of 16 to 59 year.
- Disabled member and no able bodied adult member.
- SC/ST Households.
- Landless households which derives major part of their income from casual labour.
- Destitute/ living on alms, manual scavenger households, primitive tribal group, legally released bonded labour get automatically included into the scheme.
Urban Beneficiaries
11 occupational categories of workers are eligible for the scheme under Urban category
- Ragpickers.
- Beggars.
- Domestic workers.
- Street vendor/ Cobbler/hawker / other service provider working on streets.
- Construction worker/ Plumber/ Mason/ Labour/ Painter/ Welder/ Security guard/ Coolie and other head-load worker.
- Sweeper/ Sanitation worker/ Mali.
- Home-based worker/ Artisan/ Handicrafts worker/ Tailor.
- Transport worker/ Driver/ Conductor/ Helper to drivers and conductors/ Cart puller/ Rickshaw puller.
- Shop worker/ Assistant/ Peon in small establishment/ Helper/Delivery assistant / Attendant/ Waiter.
- Electrician/ Mechanic/ Assembler/ Repair worker.
- Washer-man/ Chowkidar.
How to apply AB-PMJAY?
Before applying you must check are you eligible for the schemes. To check your eligibility you can use following steps
- Visit official PMJAY website i.e https://pmjay.gov.in/
- Click on the PMJAY ‘Am I Eligible’ option.
- Enter your name, phone number, ration card number or the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana URN number.
- On submitting your mobile number, you’ll receive an OTP. Submit the OTP.
- Select your state of residence.
- Click on the ‘Search’ button once you’ve filled in all the relevant details. When you click search, a list of names will fall under the category.
- Look for your name in the list.
After you have checked your eligibility on the online portal, you should look forward to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana online registration and application process.
Following steps are used for Ayushman Bharat Yojana Registration
- Generate a patient verification card for your beneficiaries.
- For card generation, the patient is directed to the PMJAY kiosk.
- Understand all the valid charges and payments associated with the PMJAY scheme.
- Confirm any prevailing sickness or diseases from the provided doctors.
- Obtain a medical treatment or a prescription of medication from the doctors in the case of any severity. If hospitalisation is recommended, avail medical facilities from Empanelled Healthcare Providers (EHCP) or public hospitals.
- After the completion of treatments, receive a discharge certificate/bills/invoices from the hospital.
Documents Required for Ayushman Bharat Yojana Registration
Below mentioned documents are necessary for AB-PMJAY online registration :
- Age and identity proof.
- Income certificate.
- Caste certificate.
- Contact details such as phone number, address, email ID, etc.
- Documents stating your family’s current status.
As contact details is the only way to contact policy holder, you should mention accurate contact details.
Certificates Required for PMJAY Registration
One must submit two different certificates while opting for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The required certificates are as follows:
- Income certificate
- Caste certificate
- Family structure
During the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) online registration and application process, you must specify your family structure. For example you must mention whether you lives in a nuclear family or a joint family.
Check Your Name in PMJAY Scheme List:
Three methods mentioned below are used to check if your name is mentioned in the PMJAY scheme list :
- Online Method: In this method you can visit the official website and check your eligibility.
- Through Common Service Centre (CSC): You can also visit the nearest CSC or empanelled hospital to know if you are eligible under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
- Use Helpline Number: Another method to check Ayushman Bharat eligibility is by simply contacting the helpline number 14555 or 1800 111 565.
Download the Ayushman Bharat Card Online :
Following steps are used to successful completion of the Ayushman Bharat card online application and to download it:
Step 1: Go to the official PMJAY website (https://pmjay.gov.in/).
Step 2: Log in with your registered phone number.
Step 3: Input the captcha code and generate the OTP (one-time password).
Step 4: Opt for the Household Id number (HHD) code.
Step 5: Provide the accurate HHD code to the PMJAY Common Service Centre (CSC).
Step 6: The CSC will check and verify the information provided.
Step 7: The PMJAY CSC representative will complete the remaining process.
Step 8: Pay ₹30 to get the Ayushman Bharat card.
