
Samriddhi 2022-23. Delhi Government’s new tax scheme Hurry Up!!! Pay your property taxes before 31st march,2023 and grab this golden chance.
Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Mr. Vinai Kumar Saxena launched a one-time property tax scheme – Samriddhi 2022-23 on 25th October,2022.
What is Samriddhi 2022-23?
Full form of Samriddhi is – Strengthening and Augmentation of Municipal Revenue for Infrastructure Development in Delhi.
Under this scheme, 2 options are there, one for residential property owners and one non-residential property owners.
1.ONE PLUS FIVE option for Residential property owners i.e., they will have to pay only principal property tax amount of the current and of the last five years (FY 2022-23 + FYs 2017-18 to 2021-22).
2.ONE PLUS SIX option for Non-residential property owners. Here property owners will have to pay the principal property tax amount for the current year and the previous six years (FY 2022-23 + FYs 2016-17 to 2021-22).
Key Feature of Samriddhi 2022-23
100 percent exemption will be given on interest and penalty on the outstanding tax amount and all the previous dues will be waived off before – 2017-18 for residential property owners and before 2016-17 for Non-residential property owners.
Duration of the Scheme
This scheme is effective only for one year i.e., from 26th October,2022 to 31st March,2023.
All these benefits are only available if one pays the taxes from 26th October,2022 to 31st March,2023.
What happens if a person does not pay the taxes before 31st March,2023?
If a person fails to settle his dues before 31st March,2022, He will have to pay all the taxes due along with interest and penalty since 2004 or since whichever year it has been pending. And the person will not be eligible to receive any waiver or Exemption under this scheme.
What if one has already paid his taxes, dues and penalties before the launch of the scheme?
In cases where principal, interest and penalty are already paid before the launch of the scheme, will not be reassessed and reopened.
Important points:
- If one has already paid dues for any of the years from 2016-17 (Residential Property Owners) or 2017-18 (Non-Residential Property Owners) but it has not been updated or recorded in the MCD tax data will have to submit the proof of payments so that the tax data can be updated properly.
- Coercive Measures are to be launched from April 1,2023 for those who have defaulted their Tax Payments to collect the Tax dues.
